Urgent Action Needed to Stabilize Oregon’s Nonprofit and Community Service Ecosystem
Nonprofits are essential to how our communities function, and right now they are at risk. Across Oregon, organizations delivering housing, healthcare, food access, and other critical services are facing rising demand, unstable funding, delayed payments, and increasing administrative burdens. These challenges reflect a system that relies on nonprofits without providing the coordinated support needed to sustain them. If nonprofits destabilize, services do not shift elsewhere. They disappear.
What We’re Recommending
Stabilize Now. Fix Systems. Build Infrastructure.
Emergency stabilization funding and rapid response and triage support
Improved contracting, payment timelines, and compliance systems
